A Mixed-Media Collage Exhibition on the healing journey after sexual trauma, offering a space to celebrate resilience leading into International Women’s Day.

Visual artist Antonella Eva Morelli presents When the Flowers Bloom, a mixed-media collage exhibition exploring the psychological aftermath of sexual trauma and the reclamation of one’s body and sexuality.

Opening Thursday 5 March 2026 (6–8pm) in the lead-up to International Women’s Day (8 March), the evening will feature a Live Acoustic Cello performance by Wilma.

Through a curated selection of 15 original collage works and large-scale fabric prints, When the Flowers Bloom invites viewers into an intimate visual language where beauty and rupture coexist, where sexuality is a site of power and tenderness.

This work speaks to the psychological aftermath of sexual violence and the long process of reclaiming the body as one’s own. Each piece invites viewers into quiet reflection, and provides a shared language for understanding.

Sexual violence remains a widespread reality in Australia. The ABS Personal Safety Survey reports that over 1 in 5 women (22%, or 2.2 million) have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15. Australian Bureau of Statistics+1 Separate national research from the Australian Child Maltreatment Study estimates 28.5% of Australians have experienced child sexual abuse. ACMS+1 When the Flowers Bloom responds to that reality through the lens of healing and reclamation, creating space for collective witnessing, and solidarity.

Launching When the Flowers Bloom around International Women’s Day in March 2026 underscores its relevance. It aligns with the global conversation around the #metoo movement, autonomy and the dismantling of systems that have historically silenced women’s voices.

Antonella Eva Morelli is a feminist, queer visual artist and designer based in Naarm/ Melbourne, Australia. Working primarily in mixed-media collage, she explores the alchemy of pain and desire, using symbolic composition to transmute personal and collective trauma into visual form.

Born in Argentina in 1989, Morelli’s practice draws on over a decade of experience across visual art and design. Her work brings together fragments of photography, texture and found imagery to construct layered narratives healing and transformation. Through the physical act of collage, she uses paper as both a medium and a metaphor for repair.

Wilma (Cello) began her journey in the classical scene when she developed a flair for the orchestral cello aged seven years old. As her talent developed, her music taste grew, leading to an industrious youth that toured the world.

Wilma has a passion for dance music which led to over a decade of collaboration, live performances, production and DJ sets at the highest level. Her hybrid DJ sets with live electric cello have captivated crowds across the festival scene from Rainbow Serpent (Aus) to Burning Man (U.S). She has carved a personal sound that cannot be replicated and grown into one of Australia’s most unique and captivating artists.
